Becoming part of a family is probably the best way to learn about New Zealand's language and culture. Homestay provides home comforts and the warmth and security of family life. There are also lots of opportunities to practise English out of school with real people in real situations.

Victoria Institute of New Zealand’s homestay service allows students to experience living with a New Zealand family in a home environment. You can be picked up from the airport and taken directly to your homestay family.

Some of the Highlights of Homestay Are

• Students have their own room
• Breakfast and dinner from Monday to Friday
• Breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturdays and Sundays
• Living with a family and joining them in outings and family gatherings
• Help with learning English through communication with the host family
• All students and families will be monitored to ensure they are compatible
• Access to laundry and kitchen facilities
• Receiving special care if specifically requested

Cost

• Currently weekly rates: NZ$210 per week (includes 2 meals: Breakfast and Dinner); NZ$230 per week (includes 3 meals) for students over the age of 18 years.
• NZ$220 or NZ$240 per week for students under the age of 18 years.

*Students under the age of 18 years must remain in homestay accommodation for their entire enrolment period.


In Addition, Once Only Fees of


• Airport transfer - one way (optional): NZ$75
• A non-refundable Homestay Placement Fee of NZ$200

Please Note: To guarantee homestay accommodation 2 weeks' notice must be given.


How to Apply for Homestay

If you require homestay accommodation, please fill in the relevant spaces provided in the Student Application Form.

Rental Accommodation

This option includes houses, flats or apartments, and other self-contained units. For this option we suggest that students do not organize private accommodation until they have settled in to their studies with the Institute
