Entry Requirements
IELTS: 5.0 overall (minimum 5.0 in each band). Results from two separate tests can be combined;
TOEFL: 475 or 173 computer-based. Essay rating 4.0;
Pass the English Placement Test.
Course Information
The Certificate in Foundation Studies is a National Qualification Framework Unit Standard Base Qualification. This two-semester programme meets NZQA University Entrance Standard & equivalent to NCEA (Level 3) and prepares students for degree-level study at Universities in New Zealand. Students who successfully complete the Certificate will have met the academic and English language/literacy entry requirements for most undergraduate degrees.
Teaching occupies 25 hours per week and in addition you are expected to spend at least 20 hours per week in unsupervised self-study. You are assigned a tutor, who provides counseling and is available to listen and help with any questions or difficulties you may have.
